    here is my reply, i posted it here so others can use the same method to access the development engine them self.

    go to

    Code: Select all

     C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\day of defeat source\bin
    and scroll down till you find Hammer.exe. right click it and create a desktop shortcut. then via the steam UI, add a "non-steam game" and select the shortcut you made on your desktop. after the game shows in your steam library, right click the game from library and in the properties tab rename it to something that denotes what game that specific configuration is made for IE "DOD:S SDK" or "HAMMER DOD:S" etc. by adding the game to your steam library you can utilize steam UI functionality while developing, like screenshots and broadcasting.
    for more info on how to kick ass and make maps....... HMU.

Change notes:
Added spawn areas in basement with 6 spawn points per team
Aligned door near center platform
Added a lock and unlock button for the window upstairs
Window upstairs now kills you if you lay across it as it goes up

Not a terrible map, it's definitely fun in a "legoland" or "mario_air" kind of way :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

I don't think I've ever seen Lego or Mario on the Blitz server.

We had Risk. It was played for about a week and once the novelty wore off people either whined about it until it got changed or it would lose votes or get changed even if it won the vote. I wasn't a good fit for our server. That's not saying that it won't be put back on. I wouldn't expect a rush to do it though.

I can confirm they get played a fairly decent amount. Those maps are listed on the nomination list, but they aren't necessarily in alphabetical order, so you'll need to scroll through the entire list. They tend to be hiding at the very end. :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:

As someone who has been playing since the very beginning of DOD (pre-source) I have been missing one map since source came out, and I played on another server and happen to have found it. DOD_Forest was one of the best maps for the original but wasn't included in the source version. A modder released dod_baum_b4 which is the source version. This map has something for everyone (snipers, assault, mg, bazooka, melee, people who like to mortar, etc) with bunkers, a bridge, mortars, tunnels, and towers. They are very balanced sides although distinct in their paths. This was played more than avalanche and charlie for a while on original servers, so including this will bring back a ton of memories for long time players and different game play elements for everyone on the server.

If any of you were original DoD 1.3 players back in the day, you will remember the DoD version of jagd. It was a British map where the Brits had to destroy 2 german tanks or the germans could capture plans from a downed glider. It has been remade for Source, and is callled dod_hunt. I dont know if anyone else misses some of the old school maps, but here is one of them!

If its possible to play that map.. Why aren't we playing it... That map was the best in the original dod

One of the best maps from Dods.

I think we had it on our server in the past.

dod_hunt_b4 (flag caps) was added to the server on September 7.

dod_hunt_b5 (return the briefcase) has been on the server since January 31, 2016 and hardly anyone ever played it until recently. This is one of those maps that everyone bugged me about so I added it and the novelty died off after about a week or so and it was rarely ever played again. Unfortunately we have many maps that fit this category because some of our admins are too lazy to scroll through the map list. :angry-banghead:

dod_baum_b4 has been on the server for almost 3 years now.
