Biggest ever breach of Aussie Privacy Act.....Guess Who?

Post by Strider »

Well done google.....

http://www.privacy.gov.au/materials/a-z ... mmary=7103

and their apology;

http://google-au.blogspot.com/2010/07/were-sorry.html

LOL yeah right...they just happened to;
1. design code to access unsecure wifi network payload data for their purposes.
2. accidentally build that code into mobile eqipment.
3. accidentally fit that eqipment into all their Google street view vehicles.
4. accidentally have that turned on for every street they drove along.
5. accidentally gather live data with the code and eqipment they didnt realise they were utilising.
6. then accidentally compile that payload data into a centralised database.

Finally, they co-incidentally just happened to stop this practice shortly after this became know publiclally world-wide that Google were up to this shit !!!

Fuck you Google ! Use google, google toolbar, google desktop and google Chrome - don't for a SECOND believe that Google don't know exactly who you are and everything you do online !!!!

Great consumer products - but even better privacy invaders and personal user data gatherers...

the scary thing is that google isn't the only one doing that stuff. that news has been around for awhile. Lots of other big name companies have been data mining for some time now, but theyve all been getting away with it by some half-assed apology and then keep doing it right in plain sight. Makes me fear the internet that much more.

Yeah, I know it's old news....but the Australian Privacy Commisioner just released the report into their findings. What suxks most, is that there is no enforceable penalties (criminal, monetary or otherwise) which can be used to enforce privacy laws and discourage future breaches. SO basically, "you've been a naught boy. Don't do it again". piss weak.

yeah it definitely sucks that they've been up to this, but then again most everyone on the internet knows to keep your information secret. This definitely reinforces that belief for me though

Isn't Australia that small little island south of Indonesia that the Japanese didn't even want back in 1942. Other than Strider and a few others, I didn't think anyone else lived there. Oh well, guess that's why I'm a whore. :flags-australia:
