Should I switch to Nvidia

Post by Mongo »

I have gone back and forth over the years. Any one think this is a good buy? Hear anything bad or good about sparkle?

How is it reliable if it dies after heavy use. That is not quite the definition of reliable.

Sparkle is in Taiwan, has their own factory, and has been around since 1982. They are a stable card, though I have heard of issues with fan noise. Not necessarily the fan not functioning - just louder than comparable models. I have worked on a few PCs with Sparkle cards. Never had an issue with them. The problem was always something else (usually a driver). I don't have enough experience with their brand to give it a thumbs up or down but I usually run ASUS (another noisy fan), Sapphire (AMD/ATI), or MSI. The reviews for Sparkle cards are pretty good. I see no reason to not give this card a try, as long as it has a good warranty and you can read their shitty manuals that come with them. Might wanna brush up on your Mandarin or Taiwanese.

BTW, I have seen several dead MSI cards. They have been having a lot of capacitor problems. Might want to consider that when you make your choice. I am not too happy with their motherboards lately either. MSI is the LAST brand I would choose.
I die a lot!

I am happy with my HD 6950 I got for my new rig. I unlocked the shader cores and overclocked to the HD 6970 speed and it runs like a champ. All for about $280.
