Re: Attn Computer gurus
The build is very solid
i love this board it needs to have all these components aon there future am3+ boards the ceramic style is so sexy
also asus needs to build a newer purple board to match my paint job
This deffinitly overclocks and will handle it
BUT
WHY HYBRID
there nice dont get me wrong specially in raid
but they still spin
with only a 4 GB ssd flash on it (ssd are very fucking fast i have one for revodrive and two 60GB on this main rig with one ssd in netbook...dude there fucking fast games are solid on it with muiltitasking is a charm so smooth and sexy )
What is the total of it?
HAF cases are pretty
Oh will you be raiding at all
you should try to get a cheaper case so you can deffinitly go for a SSD full not just hybrid are your old drives on the computer you use now 7200 and 10000 rpm drive?
could deffinitly use those as storage and small programs like torrent programs av and other apps while your ssd is for operating and big heavy stuff
OH SHIT
dude i have Gskill Triple channel kit
its this ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820231361
triple channel for ya
i could sell it to ya and ship it there
how much are you getting those kingstons for?

Re: Attn Computer gurus
All looks good but I would recommend crucial memory. It is my preference and I have seen better performance from it.
Other than that I like the specs. Look up xclio PC cases. I found good prices for them on www.chiefvalue.com. I have one and I love it. It keeps cool.
Yeah on the drive I would not go hybrid. Get at least 80GB SSD for you primary drive and then the 500GB as a secondary and use it to install games, software and data.

Re: Attn Computer gurus
Do you have the xclio with the big ass fan in the front lol
its like a fuckin tornado in it lol
Go SSD
(on the computer you have right now use the primary hard drive you have and use that one as your secondary hard drive for games can save you some money but having a 7200-10000 rpm hard drive is key for this
go with this hard drive instead
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822136322
Its faster then what your looking at trust me...the price is not to bad considering its 10000 rpms which is right up there with ssd but Solid State Drives do not spin at all meaning power efficiency and also faster rates of read and write because its considered flash based i beleive
Its like ram and ram is the fastest component
have you used ncix ? or newegg?

Re: Attn Computer gurus
Of which
you should look at some builds from overclock.net
there nice builds so you can get an idea of what everything looks and such like that plus tons of info about your parts
http://www.overclock.net/
The reason im sending you there is beceause yes its a huge forum but also tons of custom designs and everything so you can get an idea of your own build
watercooled is expensive but so worth it
Oh
and as for case got with an nzxt or save you self a lot more and just go with a mid tower atx case and go for the camo black and white to go with the military theme of your computer
unless you have heat issues around your house where having a full tower really helps with airflow and watercooling

Re: Attn Computer gurus
Overclock.net, that brings back memories. Started with a celeron 300hz and got it up to 450 if I remember right.
Re: Attn Computer gurus
I would pass on the water cooling. From your previous posts I'm thinking that you aren't exactly computer savvy so I don't think you are planning to do much overclocking. A regular case will save you money and potential heartache in the future. Some of those cheap water-cooling kits are prone to leakage and I'm pretty sure that you don't want to irrigate your system! With the parts you have listed water cooling isn't even necessary. A good case will do this system just fine.
The Kingston memory you listed is just fine too and should perform well in this system. Crucial and GeIL are also good. Compare prices. You might get a better deal with one of those other two brands. I have always felt that Kingston was a bit overpriced and only buy theirs when they are on sale. Shakira has some good RAM to offer as well. An excellent choice for your new build as long as he doesn't want a blowjob for the RAM that he is offering!
Wish I had the money to go Intel when I built mine but this AMD is smokin' fast so far and I'm happy with it. I have never owned an AMD system other than an old Sempron in a laptop I used to have. They have come a long way and, with the right setup, can keep up with Intel just fine.
While it's nice to have, do you really need this much PC? I newegged mine and paid only $700 U.S. For another $200 I could have added more RAM, got a 10,000 RPM hard drive instead of the 7200 I ended up with, and a better video card but saw no point because there isn't a game out there that won't run well on what I got. Even at around $900 U.S. I don't really see much of a performance difference than what you have listed by going AMD instead. Just a thought...
Are you putting this thing together yourself? Nowadays almost any noob can assemble a new PC and it's an excellent way to learn about how computers work. I recommend trying to build your own at least once and this would be a good, safe build for you to learn on.
Not sure if you have an operating system figured in that total price or not. Look at about another $100 for OEM unless you have a friend that can hook you up.
Have fun with this. You should be very happy with the end result if you build this monster beast! I'm (almost) jealous but the tax guy only gave me enough money back this year to get what I was able to buy.

Re: Attn Computer gurus
Most of your shit looks fine. I have a closed loop water block on my system. I am running a I7-920 @ 3.83. =P Almost a 1.2ghz Overclock. I would go with it since the i7's run hot as hell. I am about 62-72 on full load. idle about 38-42 so not to shabby. I am getting a new case will see if this positive air flow shit works lol =P I have some idle and full load pics I will upload when I am done.
This is my current case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product
This is the on I am getting
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product
Will see if this mid tower can cool better or close to what my full tower can. I got board and it looks like a neat case with some cool options to get my geek on with =P Where is Mongo when I need him.

Re: Attn Computer gurus
dont get that lanboy air
IT SUCKS
its a cool looking case ya
but it sucks to much dust even with filters which block airflow not by much but still does
its not worth it
keep the closed case looks better

Re: Attn Computer gurus
Already got it. To much plastic on it for my taste other then that works well. I was getting 65-75 on my cpu in my old case @ 100% load. I will take some pics of the new temps and post them up. LOL dust doesn't worry me to much. I have a Bulldog aka "wet/dry vac" and a BLOW setting =P

is your cpu on air?
bet if you used the h50 or h70 quick cooling method would work out nicely to but still needs radiator for it
use it on mine and ITS FUCKING COLD
plus my house is an icebox during the winter so im getting icey cold

Re: Attn Computer gurus
Should wait till April. Amd bulldozer chip will be out and hopefully bring down some of the prices. Also Nvidia gtx 590 and amd 6990 should be out to help drop prices down. Hopefully.

Re: Attn Computer gurus
Does the hybrid SSD let you specify what gets stored on the SSD portion of the drive, or is it just a buffer... cause if it is, I'd just get more memory instead.
Re: Attn Computer gurus
first off,,, you should get video cards with display ports, thats the future. hdmi is outdated.
second,,, make sure the seagate harddrive is VERY VERY fast or it will be the limiting step or reagent in the speed and performance of you comp, especially if you want to play off your harddrive... plus go with a terabyte is more bang for the buck.
i am not going to start about getting ripped off by going with intel and nvidia. if thats your tea... well i like coffee, AMD, ATI.

Re: Attn Computer gurus
WTF are you talking about? HDMI is going nowhere. They have even introduced a new HDMI (1.4) that carries Ethernet. DVI is just for video. HDMI will carry sound and now Ethernet too, along with video. The video quality between the two is almost non-existent.robmiz wrote:first off,,, you should get video cards with display ports, thats the future. hdmi is outdated.
Re: Attn Computer gurus
hahha right
visiontek released there 5770 with the killer NIC
ya i have yet to use that video card just
use the xfx 5770 crossfired(badcompany 2 averageing about 150 FPS that is amazing trust me its the shit ) and also have the killer Nic 2100 its nice to control fully with this card my connection is fully being used rather then my onboard which is odd
HDMI is great only for ethernet and sound video yes is still great its the better resolution craze with 3d tech and all that shit going around
BMH is right
cards are to expensive now specially that 6990 radeon amd card its 700 bucks losest its nuts
and rumors are saying crossfired its only pushing average 50 fps on crysis
im getting 75 fps on crysis with my cards hahah
its kinda funny
even using the intel sandy bridge gen 2 chips its getting crap fps lol
Just wait till the new 7000 series of amd cards and the 600 series of nvidia So crazy

Re: Attn Computer gurus
Now that I just bought a new home and I'm dirt poor, I had to buy a budget computer after my gaming one died.
I'm using the onboard video card and I don't think it supports DoDs. I tried putting my old video card into the new system, only to realize it won't fit because I got a slim tower.
Gonna haveta buy one of those half sized ones or whatever I guess.
