So what happened was I had a dual boot. Drive 1 was Windows XP and drive 2 Windows 7, both legit copies with keys. Last night I tried to burn an ISO backup disc and my dvd drive went bye bye. I was using a DVD+R DL, So I reassigned the letter (same as before) to the drive and the system crashed. On reboot it wounldn't go farther than the login page (blue screen pop up for 1/10th of a second).No matter what restore option I used it wouldn't work. Tried to reimage and it wiped out C; drive XP and reinstalled Win 7 on it. Now the product key won't work, says it's invalid. It installed a Win 7 RC Build 7100 on it. WTF Any help????


It will boot from Win 7 RC build, but not the Win 7 Ulitmate build on drive 2 thats been working for months now.

That is messed up. I dont know what went wrong but why are you dual booting Win XP and Win 7?

I would suggest having one OS, Windows 7, then using VMWare to have the second, Windows XP, as a virtual machine. Then you could have both running at the same time if you need be and not have to log out of one to go into the other. etc etc. It is what I do and I have Windows 7 as my host and then XP, Vista, Server 2003 and Server 2008 as virtual machines.

I never took off XP from the first HDD. Anyway, I just re installed Win 7 to the HDD and used Trans file for the XP crap. It's the only way to do it if you only have an Upgrade license from Microsoft. All is well now, except for downloading some programs I lost. But thanks for the imput.
