I attempted to migrate the forums, and spent the last couple months whacking my head against walls. Technocrat sent me a very good link on how to migrate, but as it turned out, it only works if the new forums and database are located on the same server as the old ones. Me and Max use different service providers all together unfortunately.

In the end, I think it's better if we start off fresh anyhow. With a clean slate we have a smaller chance that bugs will creep up and cause major problems for us.

Yes, the old forums will slowly shut down. The new forums is now open, but the old ones will stay up for another couple months until they die and eventually completely shut down. I encourage everyone to start making the switch as soon as possible.

Personally to encourage the switch over, I will no longer be reading and posting in the old forums. If you are looking for an official response to something from me, you will have to create a new post in the new forums and reference the url of the old forum's post for me.

Ya, that's part of the Anti-spam system I installed. I was forced to close registrations on the old forums because of excessive spam, so it was one of my #1 priorities in the opening of the new forums.
