Comp. building a new one summer project

Post by Shakira »

So i have a intel pentium 4 cpu with some intel board from Gateway hahahha
yes the specs are not what i want anymore
Im planning on building a
amd phenom 2 x4 955
asus crossfire 3 mobo
and two or maybe one radeon crossfire video card (still am looking for one or two that has descent ratings and opinions.)
and a solid state drive

I am going to break down this intel comp and take the internal hd reformat and put it for space its about 150 gb seagate not the best

But wondering what you guys think about these products
its pretty nice the build and everything still have to find a case big enough and with enough fans along with a power supply but after that working on getting windows 7 or just going dual os if it is possible with windows and mac :D

intel has greatly surpassed AMD in gaming processing. their I7 blows all their processors away and they are not as expensive as you would expect and Intel chip to be. Match it up with an asus or intel board with and intel ssd and you're golden for any new game that comes out.

AMD is still good as far as pricing goes but the performance is lacking and they do not take advantage of new technology.

I built 3 asus 79 xtd mb combo, phenom II x4 965, w/2gig ram, 750 watt psu. and both customers are VERY happy with them. The big diferance is price and performance compaired to i7 intel.
Each was about $490.00
Did my shopping on pricewatch

So a little update to
the computer im building

Thought id share this one
Good ole tigerdirect ....

Got part of my build in
Two huge ass fans
and " a missing Phenom 2 x6 1090t"

Ya this big ass box only had two fans in it,
The box it self was wrecked
One of the corners was completly ripped off and taped back together...

Looked at the shipping details again and check the invoice that came with the box and says there is supposed to be a processor

Hahah so apperntly somebody at ups liked what i was getting or
tigerdirect needed it for somebody else more important then shakira :/

But got it all resolved now hahahaha
Called the tigerdirect girls and they sending me a new one on tuesday :D

theives i swear
they see what your getting and say umm fuck you and destroy your box
and take the shit out and still send the box to you ....assholes

recently bought equipment to update my three year old box over the last few months. Finally done.

i7 830 overclocked to 3.2 (2.8 native), with peak around 3.8 when using one core
Gigabyte P55A-UD3 board
Corsair DHX DDR3 @ 1400 2x2Gb running dual channel mode
4Gb ReadyState LaCie flash (does help a bit)
Diamond Radeon 5770 HD 1Gb
Plextor Blu-Ray/DVD Burner
24" Viewsonic 1080p (2ms @ 30,000:1) running HDMI mode
Windows 7 64-bit
Diamond Dolby Digital Live 24-bit soundcard

used most of my old stuff, any non-64 bit drivers were hacked to make them work....fuck buying all new shit!

now if i could just get my bluetooth stereo headset to work.....

Thats a really nice build :D
I am going to using both internals on this computer currently on the new one :D
tons of space and also external hd that i got for way cheap
excited i like the build though you do any custom casings ?
the 700d going to see how it fares
Might just say ef it and start drilling holes around the cable management side and also on the inside of it to make better airflow
But then again im working on watercooling this tank

Also
Have these

Code: Select all

http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-13210512562222_2109_32776468
effing amazing :D
love them so much the colors and all specially how it traces just so tight

SO thought of a great idea
makes a system that will go around my case edges fast enough but smooth enough to actually trace the colors :)
like this

Code: Select all

http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/directron_2113_3710966801
In sense :D
so much work but hella worth it the juryrig for it will be a bitch with an independent motor for it but well see what happens hahha

I'm still using the same case I got back in 96, it's an old SCO Unix tower that they used to sell when buying OS. It's made of steel, ventilated on sides at base of case, has large 120mm (?) on inside back of case at top to pull air upward. Another fan is in front of case pulling air inward. The PSU (not original) pulls air inward, and exhausts upward, allowing the 120mm fan to pull it out. The case has 5 internal 3.5" bays, and 5 5.25" bays in front. There is a floppy bay on top, which holds a USB/headphone attachement now and an additional 3.5" bay on very top of case (under slide off cover) for fast removal (dunno why).

I put a temp sensor array to monitor internal case and hard drive temps in one 5.25" bay and then put a Cooler Master 5.25" to 3.25" adapter in which pulls air in front of case across drives.

Temp at idle is about 88 internal/90 drives, when gaming internal goes up to around 92-96 and drives hit around 101-105. Fans are running faster also, but it's still fairly quiet, although sometimes I can hear processor fan spinning during cooldown.

Don't have much for lighting, not a big fan of it since PC is in my room. Keyboard is backlit red, mouse is blue on top (Saitek GM3200), mousepad is dim red around base, back of case shows a tint of blue due to PSU and blue LED's. Then you have the blue LED's from "power on" indicators on my LCD and speakers. Too much light sometimes, lol. Even when machine is in sleep state, mouse stays lit.

Have looked at newer cases, I like the plexiglass ones, either the full plexi or just the side panel.
