I know how to record one, but I don't know how to watch one. For example, if I find a demo in source bans, I don't know how to watch it. I think I have to watch it through the game console or something like that.

save demo to game dir for example>
c:\GAMES\Steam\steamapps\<account name>\day of defeat source\dod

start game
do not log into a server. at menu screen open the console ~ and type either demoui or demoui2 I like Demoui
click open then select the file and hit play.

It's been a long time since I have viewed a demo, but you can also slow down/speed up the video. You can show other models (aka other players) which helps to catch wall hackers (but do use sound because that can often be an issue too).

There are a few other commands all of which I forget the code for that are helpful.

Thanks MOngo for the tip! I tried it out and it said I was missing the beachfront map, so I couldn't view the demo, but it's ok. Atleast I know now, how to view future demos.
