So i again am wondering about certian aspects of the internet

i was talking to bmh about this earlier this morning at like 5 am
but im wondering about why the speeds your paying for, you dont actually receive

im about to pay my 70$ bill for 15Mbps :( thats thirty bucks shy of gettin 50Mbps

i dont understand when im torrenting or even just downloading off the websites its capped at 2 Mbps download :(
the only things that i have been reading is that first comcast sucks balls i mean major cajones
second they know that everybody on this planet torrents but why cap them for such shitty speeds and make them pay a hella lot more money then what they should be

This is pissing me off i should be getting way lower ping scores to when im playing on this server and on servers that are only four hours drive from me :(

I know nothing of the internet workings that people are accustomed to just trying to understand if it is possible to say fuck you comcast im getting what im paying for not this nanzy panzy bullshit

Rant rant rant yes
Just need some help im not about to pay for shity shit internet but its the only one out here :(

Usually the overhead takes some speed away. then you have the amount of people in your neighborhood or how many people are connected on one switch.
the download speeds really depend on how fast the upload speed is on the server you are downloading from. They may cap the speeds.
when you pay for lets say Comcast, you pay to use their network to connect to the Internet. It is their network and their rules. If you feel your ISP is not giving you the speeds you pay for then get proof like doing a broadband speed test. there are many online. I like www.speakeasy.net/speedtest
this will give you a more accurate number. It is funny, I have Comcast and when I do my speed test I am actually getting quite a bit faste connection than I am paying for. Also I download stuff from Microsoft and I get some times up to 10MB/sec download. They have a much faster backbone. So when you download from smaller companies that dont have as much invested into their network or file server then you will not get fast download. I had to download a driver from Samsung and it only downloaded at 70KBs. very slow considering my connection speed. But that is what they cap their uploads to so I can't do anything about it.

High ping can be caused by how many hops it takes to get to the server, the location of the server, the server hardware and networking. many people do not realize that video, sound, and RAM can cause lag.

Woho the most in depth response from any forums woooo

so there is nothing i can really do to increase it

these are my speeds

Image

now this is from me to milwaukee

I know that the closer you are to a server the less ping but damn that much difference from me to washington that makes no sense at all

but thanks for the feedback

its not my hardware other then iknow i have to get a new cable
of which why is cat6 better then cat5 ethernet lines

Actually it makes alot of sense. The distance has a significant effect on the connection speeds. There are many more hops to our server than one located near your home.

Open you command prompt and type
tracert then the ip address to our ser then your local sever and compare the hops.

high ping? maybe u were torrenting while playing the game.if ur uploading something in the same time when u gaming or some other software using bandwidth in the back, usually it will result high ping. mine? DLspeed is 1.2mb/s max upload 130k/s max and i am paying 8M from timewarner but every time i run speedtest on it it shows 20M

Turning off any programs that uses the Internet or runs processes in the back ground may help too. Remove useless programs on your computer and remove any and all tool bars from your computer. those send our packets all the time and are gateways for viruses, spyware and malware.

How many times have I told you that streaming your porn while performing those tests will give you bad results? The test takes only a minute. Now pause those transfers and try the test again.

As soon as you go over there again. She has the camera on the tripod and is anxiously waiting for your return!
