Orangebox Update Troubles
Valve released a required Orangebox update today and we have been attempting to download it; Valve's overloaded servers are unfortunately making this very difficult. As soon as we have the files, we will be rolling them out to our server.
I will update you with more information as I have it... Thanks for your patience during this undesirable down time.
Please hang in there and I will have everything back to normal ASAP.

Re: Orangebox Update Troubles
After getting ahold of the files and doing some quick testing, we have rolled the required update out now.
Testing showed that the update breaks Metamod:Source & SourceMod, so we have disabled them in order to allow our server to start and run. This means our admin system will more than be likely be down for a day or two.
I will be monitoring the respected sites for updates and be applying them as soon as they are made available.

Re: Orangebox Update Troubles
So, is there anything we can do about it? The Vitamin D-bag content of the server has gone up significantly without SM. Rules are out the window. (If there's a way to kick/etc people without sourcemod, I don't know how to do it at the moment.)
For example, there's this complete douche of a 10-year-old who has finally quit spamming the mic and is now just trying to blockade exits out of spawn using an MG to push furniture everywhere.
For the record: "Pfc.MŧŤËŖCĦĮ |RAGE|" STEAM_0:0:20929855 is the kid.

Re: Orangebox Update Troubles
You can "mute" the mic spammers thru your options panel in DoD. You can, if you had access to, "ban" though the web source version of Source bans. It's timely and you have to act fast, before they leave the game, but it is possible.

Re: Orangebox Update Troubles
It has been full but I totally agree that hopefully we can fix the admin pretty fast. It has been full of "Vitamin D-bags" and playing has become unpleasant. Hopefully everyone can keep track of the Steam ID's of these people and try to get them banned asap and keep them for later in case we need to re-ban them again when the admin comes back up.

I've banned him via Sourcebans. I think he's played in the past, the name Master Chief/Chef or whatever written that way looks familiar.Elix wrote:So, is there anything we can do about it? I'll check back later to see that it went through as the site seems to be really slow.

Re: Orangebox Update Troubles
UPDATE:
The SourceMod & Metamod:Source crews have been working on new releases to fix our current woes. Unfortunately Valve/Steam thought it would be a great idea to only give them 30mins heads up warning, but the Allied Modders are use to that treatment from Valve/Steam.
They were on verge of releasing a patched up version yesterday, when Valve/Steam released yet another update without warning that broke it again. This has caused some major delays & frustration. Imagine working hard for 24hours then have the slate wiped clean by some loser on the street.
I'm sorry for all the chaos this has caused... I've been checking their forums out every couple hours monitoring the situation, and once issue a working stable release I will install it and bring our admin system back to life.

Re: Orangebox Update Troubles
UPDATE:
For the 3rd day in a row, Valve/Steam has released another Orangebox update.
This will be delaying the release of full stable versions yet again. I hope the boys will still work on it during the weekend, but we have to except that the earliest this might happen is on Monday.
The latest snapshots (the compiled code at a particular point in time) have been reported as running and working, so I have installed mmsource-1.8.1-hg702 & sourcemod-1.3.2-hg2955.
These are alpha versions (the stage before beta), so we can do are part by using our server to test and report crashes/bugs to the Allied Modders in exchange we can give our admins some sort of power for now.
This will open our server up to crashes as these are not considered fully stable versions and are full of bugs; as such we will not be using any plugins until a full stable working copy is released.
This is the best I can do for now... Keep faith that I will do everything in my power to have us running at 100% ASAP.

Re: Orangebox Update Troubles
No more could be asked from you Pun or the guys working on SM and MM. For a while when the update first installed on my computer I'd try to load steam and it would say Fatal Error yadda yadda yadda. Long story short I had to delete addupdatestats.blob and clientregistry.blob in order for it to work. What a pain in the ass valve has created. Keep us posted Pun and thank you for all your hard work.

The next donation round should include a 40% "Booze and hookers for Punisher" surcharge, in my opinion.CMDRRABB wrote:Thanks Punisher, realy appreciate all that work for us.
