Im thinking about getting a new video card but dont kow what to get. Im looking to spend between $100-$200, so nothing crazy. any suggestions. ive also been looking on ebay so if somebody wants to give me specs i can look for that would be nice too.

ATI HD5850

I just picked up a HD5770 over the weekend. I really like it. I run the new Civ 5 on high with 4x aa. BFBC2 also runs great!

Not sure what the specs of your PC are but you might want to make sure that your power supply is adequate. Some of these newer graphics cards require a lot of juice.

They also require direct power from the psu so make sure you have the appropriate connectors to plug them into the card. Most require at least one four pin pci-e connector but some of the newer ones require two pci-e connectors.

Do your home work and remember newegg is your friend

If $200 is your limit, I would highly suggest an ATI Radeon HD 5830. It's the best bang for your buck and it's not that much slower than her $300 cousin, the Radeon HD 5850.

The 5830 is a tiny bit faster than the 4890 (Was the fastest card when I bought it last year). Or very equivalent to a Nvidia GTX 460 768 MB.

What kind of power source you got?

PSU is important. make sure read how many watt and how many amps at +12V if u don't have enough amps GPU won't work properly.
like i had a 700W with 14A@+12V before GPU keep on freeze on me then i switch to a 350W with 21A@+12V then computer become flawless

i currently have a 500w 12 v 20a power supply. i couldnt begin to tell you what my mother board is, ive had itsince 2007 and have sincelost the paper work and dont know how to find what it is.

i was thinking about going with the video cards that were posted earlier, i know i said up to 200 but that was like a far limit, if i can get one of those for 130 and its good quality and its most likley better than what i have now then ill go for it.

Well I wanted to know your motherboard, so I could know if you're using an AGP or PCI-E slot. PCI-E has been the standard for a few years now, but there was still a few AGP motherboards running around back in 2007. I'm just going to assume you got PCI-E unless you can tell me otherwise. One way to check is to use a utility called CPU-Z (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html); It will list most of your major components.

I'm personally an AMD/ATI fan, so I want to push the XFX Radeon HD 5770. Even though the 5770 is a bit faster than a GeForce GTS 450. The 450 only requires a 400w PSU min opposed to the 5770's 450W requirement, and it's $20 cheaper at $130... So I guess I would suggest an EVGA GeForce GTS 450: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product

Get back to me on the motherboard, unless you know what slot your video card is.

I personally think your power supply is kind of low for a mid to high end graphics card which you can pretty much get it for 150 or less. I personally would buy a new power supply depending on what kind of system you already have (i.e. motherboard and processor and ram). A decent power supply can be attain for like 40 plus from stores like NCIX.com.

As for graphic card, depending on your preference, I think XFX Radeon HD 5770 1GB is the best bet you can get for a mid-high range vid card.

It costs like CDN$145 or so on NCIX.com so you should check it out to see if your comp can handle it since you won't wanna bottle neck your PC where your performance will be limited anyways.

My friend has the vid card I linked above and it runs the latest game like BF:BC2 and L4D2 smoothly with all highest settings and resolution possible.

All in all, if you wanna get a new vid card with decent deal, you have to know your current comp specs which is what ULTIMAPUNISHER asked of you and then choose your card from then on since buying a really good card doesnt really gurranteed an upgrade in your computer performance.

P.S. I currently own a ZOTAC GTX 460 768mb vid card with a E8400 Intel Core 2 DUO 3.0ghz processor with 4Gb DDR2 Ram, ASUS P5QL PRO motherboard. From what I heard and read from reviews, my vid card performance would run even better on an i5 or i7 processor as opposed to what I am currently running with right now. So there is an example of how even if you buy a great new video card, it doesnt necessarily help boost your performance to what you might expect to have. Just keep that in mind when you choose your video card.

ok sorry it took me so long but this is what i have. Im just gonna write donw what looks important.

intel core 2duo e6400 @2.13ghz socket 775 lga
mobo- EVGA nf66 2,Chipset Nvidia nforce 650i ultraspp, southbridge nvidia nforce 650i ultra mcp, pheonix bios vers. 6.o pg, pci-e video slot.
4gigs of ram

And it didnt say anything for my graphics card lol. well taht what i have. What do you think punisher. I think im also having motherboard problems so i might have to get a new motherboard as well but ill wait on that. let me know your suggestions.
